Has your smile changed significantly throughout the years? If so, you might feel self-conscious about it now. Lucky for you, there are many ways your cosmetic dentist can reverse the clock and give you a grin that looks just like your old one! Read on to learn how cosmetic dentistry can fix your oral health problems and make you look younger.

How Does Aging Affect Your Dental Health?

Even if you take excellent care of your teeth, they’ll eventually fall victim to the effects of aging. As you get older, thinning will leave your enamel looking gray and lackluster. It’s an inevitable part of the aging process, no matter how hard you try to avoid it.

Let’s take a closer look at some common dental problems middle-aged adults and seniors have.

  • Fragile Teeth – Over time, your teeth become brittle and more susceptible to chips, cracks, and shearing.
  • Crooked Teeth – Certain health problems can affect the gum tissue. When gums recede, teeth will no longer hold their original positions and begin to shift.
  • Dingy Teeth – Frequent consumption of dark-colored foods and drinks as well as using tobacco products can result in dingy-looking teeth.
  • Darkened or Yellow Teeth – As you get older, the layer underneath the enamel (dentin) thickens, creating the appearance of darkened or yellowed teeth.

How Your Cosmetic Dentist Can Help

Thanks to cosmetic dentistry, you can easily obtain a youthful smile once again! Here are a few ways your cosmetic dentist can enhance your appearance and make you look younger.

Teeth Whitening

Do you have staining or discoloration on your teeth? If the color of your smile is your only concern, professional teeth whitening is an excellent solution to consider. With just one appointment, your cosmetic dentist can eliminate even the most stubborn stains! It’s a fast, effective, and affordable way to achieve a dramatically brighter smile. Teeth whitening can eliminate discoloration that results from factors like diet, aging, and using tobacco products.

Porcelain Veneers

If you have several imperfections you want to address all at once, porcelain veneers are the way to go. They can transform your smile in as little as two appointments! The ultra-thin shells of dental-grade porcelain are adhered to the front surfaces of teeth, masking any flaw from view. Not only are veneers long-lasting, but they’re much more resistant to staining than natural tooth enamel. This treatment can correct a range of problems, including discoloration, misalignment, and chipped, cracked, or broken teeth. With proper dental care, you can enjoy your new smile for several years!

You don’t have to live with a smile you don’t love. Thanks to cosmetic dentistry, you can enjoy a beautiful, healthy, and youthful grin once again!
